The governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has warned that terrorists are heading south to seek shelter in the bush.

He emphasized once more the requirement for the establishment of a state police force to protect people and property.

The Nigeria Police Force, according to Akeredolu, is overworked, understaffed, and unable to appropriately protect the populace.

On Thursday, the governor held a meeting in his office with Yunnus Akeera, the newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 17.

We do not ignore the fact that the police force is overworked, he continued. In addition, we do not deny that Abuja's vast population cannot be adequately policed by a single police command.
